Company Overview
Wakefield Acoustics designs, engineers and manufactures acoustic enclosures, canopies and noise-control solutions for power generation and industrial rotating equipment, including diesel and gas generator sets, compressor packages and associated control systems. Our equipment is supplied into demanding environments across power generation, oil & gas, marine and industrial markets, working closely with OEMs, EPC contractors and end clients on projects ranging from standard genset, switchgears, to fully engineered, project-specific electrical and control packages.
As the business grows its electrical and controls scope, we are looking for an Electrical Design Engineer to join the engineering team and take ownership of the electrical design of our enclosures, control panels and associated packages, from concept through to manufacture, testing and site support.
Role Purpose
The Electrical Design Engineer is responsible for the design, documentation and technical support of electrical systems within Wakefield Acoustics' enclosures and control packages. The role covers LV and auxiliary electrical design (control panels, distribution, cabling, lighting, heating and instrumentation), including 230V/400V SLP (small light & power) circuits for heaters, battery chargers, sockets and lighting, interpretation of client and third-party specifications, and production of accurate, buildable design packages for the workshop and for customer approval. All design work is carried out to client specifications and to relevant UK and European electrical standards (e.g. BS 7671, CEN, CENELEC, ESTI), focusing on cost, safety, reliability, quality and sustainability.
